Anyone who plays an instrument knows the value of drilling. Yes it can be boring. But it is needed to get better. You really need to get down to each note and make it perfect before you can play the measure or piece.

I had a whole semester worth of Squeak at Georgia Tech. Can't really remember much at this point except that everything was an object and the environment we worked in was super slow.

Why does it need to relaunch? You now have a forward operating base that can secure the rocket. You can break the rocket apart and truck it back. Or put it on a ship. Lots of options here. The important part is probably getting there in 1 h

Exactly. Also not sure why everyone says Bitcoin is anonymous. It's as anonymous as how deep someone is willing to spend to uncover your address. If we are talking multiple nation states who are interested in tracking you down you are

Just like the mob there are some targets that just aren't worth it because they bring too much heat. They are learning this is bad for business all around so they are stepping back and encouraging others to do the same.

I wonder if hardcoding your DNS servers will help. I guess sometimes this is not possible because in corporate environments DNS servers are sent via DHCP.

In a twisted sort of way I am happy to see these types of ransomware attacks making headlines. Before it was much harder to quantify how much a breach might cost but with ransomeware you get a fuzzy lower bound. Also the prevalence of these

It's not just the linux kernel. You can imagine this having some fallout to other open source projects where they all come out and say they won't accept contributions from the university. Huge PR nightmare.
