I think the flashiness would not have mattered so much if Lycos's results had been better. If I recall, the search results I got from Lycos were poorer than WebCrawler or Alta Vista. There wasn't that much difference, though--every search

As an eighteen- or nineteen- year old, I would have wasted that money almost instantly. Could it work in reverse with the money arriving in your fourth or fifth year of college? Perhaps a curriculum dedicated to giving students more and mo

Normal people don't have the tools to check the math on a formula that involves 500-digit numbers. It's not like I'm going to pop out my TI-80 and graph it. This formula is cool, but it's only a bit more accessible than the human genome.

I have no faith that a cryonics company is going to last for more than a few years. If the money doesn't run out (which it will because someone will get greedy), all it takes is one incompetent employee to open the wrong door or push the

You're right that LA to Chicago is likely to never be a popular route for train travel. There's two big problems with air travel in the U.S. that trains could exploit. First, most cities don't have direct connections to their neighbors. Co

I'm not saying that $5000 didn't go anywhere... About one percent of it was eaten by fees and the rest probably went to make another wager. It almost certainly did not go into anything resembling capital investment as the OP suggests. I'm
