If you're on OSX you can use Fluid.app to just make a little web-app out of it. I don't use GMail's web UI but it should work fine in Fluid.

Have you used Mail.app on OSX recently? It has most of those things. SmartFolders are the same as search folders I assume. There's a fast/robust search system with saved search queries. QuickFolders (the extension?) sounds kind of like the

Apple had a WWDC 2012 session on optimizing web sites for high DPI displays. Interesting but not terribly complex stuff. I think if you follow the best practices they outline you can feel pretty confident your site will look good on a high

For what it's worth Apple's laptop line starts at $999. I totally agree that a $1k+ PC laptop is going to be fine too but I think the confusing part for consumers is it looks basically the same as the $350 model so it's harder to make this

Easy to understand why this is happening. When Vista launched you could walk into a store and buy it on a PC that could barely run it. Mostly due to lack of RAM and bloat ware. Sure it was cheap but not a good value. A $350 borderline unus

It's a smart price but I suspect that Microsoft has burned too many bridges for most people to ever consider upgrading their computer's operating system. For the average person a (Windows) operating system upgrade has traditionally been cos

Glad they fixed the icon height inconsistency issue. That bothered me a lot more than it should have. I always look at little problems like that as kind of a proxy for the rest of the system I can't see. So some random app force closes and

Our culture has to change a lot before a product like this can be mainstream. I don't think I could feel comfortable being in the same room with someone wearing one. The core problem is they break our ability to perceive the environment we

Since everyone is suing everyone else I don't know why people want to single out Apple. They got hit pretty hard by Nokia a couple years ago. I think they learned a hard lesson about how the game really works. I don't know how to draw the d

It's going to be really tough to compete on price without slashing specs/quality. That's the part that confuses me here. At $250 or $299 it would have served the same purpose with the third party alternatives hitting closer to the $199 pric

You're trying to apply common-sense to law. That doesn't work. The court has to assume the patent is valid until it's proven otherwise. The patent was legitimately granted though it can and will be challenged. This is important because it e

CM9 is only at the release candidate stage for ICS so by their own definition it's beta / un-stable. For my device it's not even officially supported so I rely on random zip files I find in forums for updates. Pretty sketchy stuff.
