That's what people said about Apple/Samsung until the trial reviled Apple did offer licensing terms which Samsung rejected. We have no way of knowing if Apple offered similar licensing terms to Motorola.

They did actually. 2010, Oct 06: Motorola sues Apple over 18 patents, and files an ITC complaint against Apple over 6 of them. 2010, Oct 29: Apple sues Motorola over 6 patents, and files an ITC complaint against Motorola over 3 of them.

I disagree. It's more about money than innovation. The non-copy arrangement that Microsoft & Apple have led to Windows Phone which I think most would agree is the most unique and maybe the most innovative platform. Would consumers be be

It's also a huge difference in scale. MySpace ultimately stumbled on a comparatively small stage. IIRC at it's height they had maybe 80-100 million legitimate accounts. A mass migration of say 20 million users in a short period of time is s

I could be very wrong but since the software was loaded during transit to Mars before landing on the surface they must have had both loaded on local storage. Maybe the software wasn't done in time for launch?

IIRC one of the cameras can take 720P images at 10FPS which is adequate since it's not going to be a very action packed video. They'll get to it eventually though. The slow uplink is an issue but having local storage available in orbit arou

Does Apple do in-store password resets? I'm thinking with their retail presence this would be a good solution. If you want your password reset come into the store with a photo-ID and the physical credit card on your account. Doesn't get muc

Most importantly it allows for more usable screen space when the keyboard is open. In some iOS apps at the current resolution you can end up with less than 30% of the display being usable with the keyboard open.

I completely agree. A split second of poor judgement can destroy hours of work. In this case I'm happy to let Apple save me from myself.

For what it's worth Apple isn't claiming any exclusive rights over devices based merely on their screen size alone.

I think double-tap-to-zoom is a perfect example of something that should be patentable. It's a huge improvement over existing systems that often used a zoom box you would position with cursor keys. To work properly it has to take into accou

I haven't used MagSafe2 yet but MagSafe1 on my 2011 Macbook Air 11" is too strong. When you pull from an angle it just slides the laptop with it. I would guess that's what Apple is trying to fix with MagSafe2. It may not be much of an issue

Sounds impressive until you realize that just Comcast and TWC alone have about 35 million subscribers. I couldn't find a total number for all pay TV subscribers but I would guess it's above 100 million.

I would suggest looking at Comcast's subscriber numbers they release with their quarterly earnings. They are still gaining subscribers. I'm not sure they have recovered to pre-recession levels yet. Employment & housing have such a huge

That's true. GNOME is a lot closer to a modernization than reinvention. Windows 8, pure Metro, is definitely closer to a reinvention. I'm not too worried about the future generations because if we have a very good tools for the job they wil

I don't think the desktop needs reinvention. Enhancements and modernizations are great but our workflows are so refined at this point the cost of reinvention is ridiculously high. If you take away something that works for the user and repla
