Dotnet format is truly slow and bad. I wish the team focused on improving it, and working on better LSP support

I think devs have a natural inclination to resist a seismic shift in their industry, which is understandable. However I agree that a lot of this stuff is FUD and AI dev is like a new skill, it takes time to master. It took me a few months b

It’s literally all just context engineering. Just different ways of attempting to give the model the information it needs to complete your task. This is not a significant change to your interaction model with Claude

I find Codex CLI to be very good too, but it’s missing tons of features that I use in Claude Code daily that keep me from switching full time. - Good bash command permission system - Rollbacks coupled with conversation and code - Easy switc

Then you have misplaced your complaints. It sounds like you just don’t like the general instruction following patterns of Claude. Which is fine, but that is nothing specific to this Skills feature

This is just a formalization of an existing pattern many people were already using. Putting a list of short blurbs pointing Claude Code at a set of extra, longer sets of CLAUDE.md style information was being used to prevent auto loading tha

Can you elaborate on how you use it with your Mac for productivity ? What’s the experience like vs using a large 5k monitor etc? What about for long hours?

The point is that this should absolutely be capable of being a power-computing extension for Mac, but instead it’s been relegated to a $3k personal theater that runs apps for some reason

At least for Ty, not sure about the others, it is explicitly for type checking, exposed as an LSP. It’s not trying to compete with full LSP implementations. Most modern editors let you combine multiple LSPs, you shouldn’t think of them as u

The problem is that dotnet format is horribly slow. So much so that it's only useful as a precommit hook
45.
▲
by

You can do that with hooks! Make a small script that triggers on a commit tool use or a compact hook and reads the conversation file (should be available via inputs to the hook) and back it up somewhere

Does anyone know how MCP servers would be used via the API? I thought they ran locally only, so how would the OpenAI API connect to them when handing a request?

Zed already has built in task running… you can use the same thing to call anything that you want like a command to run your project. You can even add custom keybindings to them https://zed.dev/docs/tasks

I agree. I actually use the AI features in Zed a lot, but there are things I really wish they would prioritize. For example this issue that’s been open for about a year: https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues

The pricing is completely prohibitive. It’s a shame, looks cool but I’m not gonna bother with a pricing model that’s clearly telling me to go look elsewhere as a solo dev

I would try this but I want to be able to use it on mobile too which requires hosting. I don’t see how valuable an LLM interface can be if I can only use it on desktop

The thing about local first syncing options like this is that they mostly do not work on mobile. For example iPhones cannot handle dropbox syncing random text files in the background as a regular filesystem for an app to deal with. Not sayi
