They will remain lower than what the market price for interest would be but I don't think the Fed can keep rates too low for too long. We're in the midst of a major capital shortage in the world right now. Eventually someone is going to wan

Most of it did come from outside of CA but a decent amount of it did come from CA. I'm not saying this is a great idea under normal circumstances-just these circumstances.

Under normal circumstances I'd be applauding the banks for refusing these IOUs but the banks took bailout money and they do owe something to the people of California morally if not legally. People in California helped bail them out and if t

The Austrian theory of the business cycle explains why these bubbles occur. It states that when there is inflation via credit expansion that the sectors that attract that increased credit are in the higher orders or production that are more

I think you could summarize this article as "Gamer dislikes griefers, thinks gaming is serious business". It sounds like it was partially on the game designers to limit this griefing activity and make this character able to be killed. The p

The same thing happened to Long-Term Capital Management. You can read up on it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long-Term_Capital_Management They were bailed out when they failed too so that set the precedent for the bailouts we had rec

I'll never understand why those who argue that there's such a serious problem with climate change also seem to not want to debate the topic much. If this is just a matter of science then shouldn't the facts speak loudly enough that those wh

I don't have a problem with the science exactly but rather the predictions that have been made from that science. Predicting the future is very difficult and I'd really like to see more discussion of that when this issue comes up.

If you say something and claim it to be factual it's still up to me to believe you or not. I think belief has a lot to do with it.

Part of the problem is that everyone is so certain particularly on the side that man-made global warming is real and a serious threat. This probably the biggest cause I have for doubting it. The philosophy of science is very interesting to

It's weird because I have met very, very few IT workers who aren't happy with their jobs. Maybe they'd rather be working for themselves or would change something about the process that's used but most people I know fundamentally love the wo

If you read "The Black Swan" this topic is discussed at some length. I believe that the consensus out there is that no one wants to read about failure. It seems extremely interesting to me but apparently no one wants to read about it.

I believe that Nobel's family is quite opposed to this-they believe that the prize's relationship to the Nobel prize is an attempt to elevate economics up to the level of physics or chemistry.
