I think I phrased it in a confusing way. They care about your solution in the sense that they want to know if/how you'll solve the problem. They don't care in the sense that they aren't trying to learn the answer by inte

It's cool if it can really do it (as opposed to spitting out wrong solutions that look plausible at a glance) but I don't think it's a good argument against LC interviews. The point is that they're testing your understan

Dear candidate, What's even cheaper and faster than the AI solution is for us to look up the answer in our own database. It turns out that we already know the answers to all the questions we ask in interviews. We're afraid that yo

I don't like Quanta because of the exaggerated sensationalized clickbait titles. It makes it seem like it's aimed at people who want to tell themselves that are smart or into science.

I don’t think so. Google is still a search engine first and a question answering machine second. And for the question answering I will still prefer links over a blob of text that can’t be inspected or verified.

In the US it's more common for data scientist to be similar to a product analyst or a data analyst perhaps with better technical skills. In the UK data scientist is more likely to be someone who is doing applied ML work (other titles f

You have two much more likely options: 1. The person who developed the notebook is responsible for productionizing it. (No, it's not all crappy notebooks and some data scientists can indeed write high quality code). 2. You have someone

Data scientist is much more catch-all from what I've seen. But a lot of that varies a lot by geography too (for example in the US people very often use DS very differently from how the title is used in the UK).

Data engineers don't work with machine learning at all. In fact one of the reasons why it developed as a job title over time waas specifically to differentiate the people who work with data but don't do any statistics or ML. If a

As someone who also wants to move away from data science, data engineering is the last thing I would want to do. I think DE comes with many of the same problems and it's also a very ill-defined career track; I wouldn't recommend i

Good reasons to move away from DS and ML - not finding it interesting, not enjoying it, having done it for a while and wanting a change. But this > Now it seems we're on the verge of a centralizing and commoditizing revolution in ML
