If you haven’t already, you should read the linked article. It does a great job explaining the features of the system in easy language.

For me, it's being able to have a consistent code-style that is completely unambiguous for all collaborators. You configure the tools to run in your editor (or as make targets, or as pre-commit scripts) and you run the same checkers on

I'm not a fan of global/slideout terminals either. I typically have multiple tabs and multiple panes within each tab tiled on the right hand side of my monitor. CMD+Tab is enough of a global hotkey for my needs, and it's usua

At the risk of contributing to the thing I'm railing against, these google sunset comments are so boring, especially when discussing Google Cloud products.

I haven’t really figured out Tmux, and I’m a little ashamed to admit it. I usually reach for screen when needed, and disconnect/reconnect/kill are the only commands of screen I know. I’ll give the tmux -CC a go when I’m back at my

Have you got any specific examples of different rules/styles? Have you brought any of them up on the issue tracker? I’m a very big fan of black, and had disliked a few choices. But it’s saved our team literally dozens of hours of nit p

No, you’re missing the entire point of the article. An MVP is working software being used by users. You then expand on it to make it better. A prototype is an experiment - confirming an idea works. I think you’re conflating the two.

Would https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0446/ have anything to do with this? We recently upgraded to celery 4 which had a side effect of file descriptors leaking between master and child processes, and data

One thing requests still has going for it is that it’s used under the covers by a lot of client libraries with a dynamic import, allowing you to pass in a session object to control things like connection pooling and custom headers. I do loo

Yep, letsencrypt handles peer to peer encryption not authentication which is supposed to be the point of codesigning. Not that codesigning helps that much either - you still get big scary prompts on Windows after signing until you generat

Honestly I haven’t used official installations before so I can’t speak to that too much. Pyenv mostly uses official builds though so it’s mostly an automated frontend to manual installs. I like being able to specify the global and local ver

Pyenv is for installing multiple versions of python. Virtualenvs are a layer beneath that. It’s super useful for maintaining static versions of python, like 2.7, 3.6 and 3.7 when you have many projects that have different python requirement
