That's not clear at all. It's not hostile to tinkerers. It's hostile to entities that may want to take others open source work and provide a business around that work. You can still run the software, for free, in your busines

For the sites I typically work on it’s very hard to give up the Django admin and all of the features it provides. At the same time, I’d love a stronger type system to avoid a bunch of the pitfalls that the dynamism of python has. So count m

The redis cache client in Django is effectively an ORM - but a much lighter one. The cache client is also doing compression and uses msgpack for serialization. I think the comparison, in the context of a regular Django developer, is apt.

I personally disagree. I hated the whole docker-machine rubbish and exporting of the env vars. That doesn't make the performance problems of docker-for-mac any less nasty though.

The article is discussing specific features that Telegram is adding to make it harder to do matching on numbers to identify aliases. This is not a general proclamation.

We certainly wouldn't fit into the community edition :) Our main project is running on Django 1.11. I'm going to wait until we're on Django > 2 for the database tracing integration. What I'd love to see is a screencas

Thanks for talking about Honeycomb, I’ve been looking out for peoples experiences as it looks like quite a nice tool. We’ve just moved over to structured event based logging, but we’re still using tools like Sumo, newrelic, etc and it’s not

Bold claim, since psycopg2 is used overwhelmingly more than any other library. Though asyncpg (or something like it) is likely the future, it’s a long way to go before calling psycopg obsolete.

I’ve previously suggested this as something the DSF could do as a money maker, but I don’t think the operational complexity makes sense for a non profit foundation. I’m surprised no one else has picked this up as a business idea though. The

As a library author that’s well within your rights to determine what you’re willing to support or not. Django has a very big user base. There are many users working on “very large sites” where the cost of “churn” is dramatic. There are thre

It’s been awhile since I’ve used HAProxy (changed roles, loved the product). But are there drawbacks running on all cores? I seem to remember sticky routing and acls not working properly as each core had its own set. Has that changed?
