They were already paying it though. It wasn't an additional cost they had to make. It was a cost they chose not to cut for a period of 3 years. I agree with you, it is beautiful.

HN comments aren't really the place for "me too" responses, but this story gave me some warm fuzzies. It was a nice story, despite the obvious inefficiencies that'll be ending very soon anyway.

They're useful for providing summaries like row totals and column totals. Rather than just get an aggregated count for the total GROUP, you can also get aggregated counts for each unique combination of columns within the GROUP. col

I see the point you're trying to make, but there are still "traditional" laws that need to change for the global internet to support all kinds of media. To be fair, Netflix are trying to drive the change that will lead to thi

Of course it will, because of really high ticket prices and they're providing a product that many people want . If ticket prices were lower though, Ford wouldn't be able to ask for that kind of money. Not many films can generate

Exactly, supply and demand. He demanded what the studio could afford to pay. If the movie is no longer generating so much revenue (because streaming) then actors will no longer be able to (successfully) demand 8 figure payments. I think som

That's the model that I think would actually be acceptable to all parties in the short to medium turn. I'd be happy to fork over $5-$10 ppv for a cinema release over the $23 I'd pay at the cinema. I'd still go to the cin

Maybe it'll force Hollywood to pay actors far far less. Harrison Ford was paid somewhere between 10 and 25 million (probably towards the lower end of that scale). Flipping the question a little bit, how do you justify paying actors 40

By the sound of it, your pricing strategy makes sense for the kind of product or service you sell. By comparison, a company selling a single product should (in my opinion) have pricing available for at least their smaller tiers. Professiona

I've only ever done MVVM development with WPF/XAML and it makes a whole lot of sense for me. Viewing it as a logical code-behind is exactly the right way to see view models in my experience. I've not done iOS development, and
