Field names, table names, quotes or not - a few examples of things that can differ. The syntax of subqueries themselves are standard AFAIK. Building subqueries inside Django gives the rest of Django access to them for things like aggregatio

You're right, except for when you need to support multiple database backends. For projects it's usually not a concern, but for libraries it certainly is. The ORM has been slowly adding more and more complex types (Expressions) f

Can you give any examples of witch hunting based on CoC? Ignoring the famous example of pycon a few years ago is there another? I feel there's a common feeling about the potential "badness" of a code of conduct, but very few

That was basically my situation. My project was c# but a vendor exe packaged with it required c++ libs. Never figured out how to bundle it.

Shipping c++ redistributable libraries is a major PITA. I couldn't figure out how to bundle them with a clickonce or wix installer.

You mention decentralization a lot, but nothing has really changed. All cpython devs still have a full clone on their machines. GitHub functions as a hub now rather than https://hg.python.org/cpython .

Licensing costs is just a proxy for CPU time on the database, so in that regard it is still relevant to other RDBM systems. You could scale the database processors (vertical or horizontal), but usually it's easier to scale the app serv

There's 100% of a company to go around. Here are the options. 1. Founder takes 100%, no one else gets anything. 2. Everyone that joins gets an equal share, which approaches a minuscule amount as more people join. 3. Some people get mor
