I am all for firing EU leadership. But my reasons are probably different to yours. EU style of lockdown was stupid in more than one way. Like prohibition of open air sporting events well into summer of 2020. And then repeating it in 2021. S

Ukraine has a neonazi problem that has been thoroughly analyzed and presented in the West. That's not exactly news. However (and that's a big however) majority of Ukranians are not neonazis. And their political leadership is certa

MAD works both ways. And some European countries (like the above mentioned France) have nuclear weapons. So I don't think Putin would make it to the French coastline easily. Ukraine should have made use of the material from the Chernob

High DPI displays support can be quite rough in Linux, along with slowish GUI. Some apps are fine, others less so. Last time I was using Mac - it was constantly overheating, then the battery inflated itself, Docker performance was awful. I

First thing one should always set on any cloud account is billing alerts. Set > 1 and set first to ~ 80% of what you think will be your normal cost then add extra alerts all the way up to 100%. That way you'll usually get an early w

You can use nix-shell to create complete runtime environments with pinned software versions. Not sure re nix flakes (it's been a while since I last used Nix) however I found nix-shell pretty good for exactly this type of stuff.

Not so long ago GCP Pg didn't support PITR. It looks like they do now. Not sure if you can create a separate instance from backup or restore only to a running instance. Not sure if they allow external replicas. I suggest you discuss th

That remains to be seen. However it still doesn't inspire a lot of trust. Wondering what would the fallout be if another MAX crashed because of another ugly hack turned deadly.
