Nobody said anything about the latency issues of GEO stationary satellites. Starlink very much has real latency differences and potential bandwidth capacity limitations vs a dedicated point to point microwave link as previously stated. Star

If latency or guaranteed bandwidth matters, microwave will be better than Starlink. Of course, often neither matters in ultra remote areas.

Moore’s law never applied to ram and again, you aren’t comparing apples to apples either. There’s a lot of factors that go into building a complete system, so stop trying to apply an old cpu transistor adage to something it was never intend

No, it’s not about price of a completely finished product in my humble opinion. It’s about the cost to produce the silicon component itself. Sure, it’s about money both ways, but the distinction is important. The V100 had up to 32gb ram, th

An important thing to also keep in mind is how much inflation changed prices over the duration. $520k in 2023 dollars is around $420k in 2017 dollars. Sure, still almost 3x more expensive, but that’s better than being 0.7x higher.

You are 100% factually right and I shared the same level of frustration as it seems you had with GP. I just wanted to 1) say thanks for sharing knowledge!, but also 2) suggest taking a deep breath or a walk before replying to folks like GP.

What’s even more interesting is the connection between ocean acidification and underwater sound. There’s preliminary research suggesting that the acidity reduces the dampening and the ocean is getting louder, which interferes with fish’s ab

Pressure at 330ft (aka 100m, way way shallower than Titanic depths) is 10 atmospheres higher than what it is at the surface. Even at 50k feet (higher than most planes operate) air pressure is still > 0.1 atmospheres. Titanic depths are a
