It seems to be going pretty well so far. Despite some serious missteps in body design, they've managed to build one of the world's safest passenger sedans. If they were good at their jobs too, it would have been even better. They&

It is actually quite a bit more than that, as the figure above only accounts for sales of the first 200k units. The phaseout after that is time-based rather than unit based. The real figure for Tesla (for example) will probably be closer to

OTOH, FCF has turned positive for at least the trailing 12 months, and they are guiding for it to remain positive for the remainder of the year. For sure, there are many struggles that continue for Tesla, but I'm not sure that a new st

I'm honestly not convinced that this theory makes any sense. Not all company employees are considered insiders. Therefore any information sent out in company wide disclosures like this has to be controlled pretty closely, probably even

Yes, you do need two and it does significantly limit throughput since both the internal and external Ethernet adapters are routed through the same USB bus. The 3B seems to top out at about 90Mbps. I'm not sure what the throughput on a

Hmm, I've been using a Pi 3B as a router for ~6 months with no issues like that. I wonder if these were resolved at some point?

I use one running OpenWRT as a router. Its an old 3B, so it barely keeps up now that our internet has been updated to 100Mbps. It will soon be replaced, possibly with a pi 4. Of course, it also runs some other things. I have OpenVPN running

Yeah, its crazy how mediocre it can be and still better than the stock interface. If Nissan kept recordings, they'd have several even worse recordings. Long sequences that fail on the last step are really common.

I own a car with Android Auto and I use it all of the time. The biggest benefit is the voice interface, but almost everything about the nav system on Android Auto is better than the builtin one. AFAIK, one of the main feature requests for T

The person that I quoted was responding to someone who talked about keying in directions and the limitations that Mazda's limitation will cause for that. That functionality is not available while driving even with a touchscreen. To me,

There is no perfect comparison and there never will be. Having said that, YTD would at least smooth out the month to month fluctuations caused by Tesla's supply and shipment schedule. Arguably a reasonable approach might be to throw aw

It looks like total yearly sales for all types in Norway is ~150k/year. 6 months into the year, electric is at ~33k total. However you look at it, this is a tiny market.

The way Linux package managers have handled multiple versions of runtimes in the past is definitely wrong. There is a lot of work in this area going on now, though. I think RHEL 8's application streams concept is pretty good: https:&#

I'm a fan of rooftop solar for quite a few reasons. One of those is that it is effectively the only competitive choice that a consumer has for cases where the utility charges excessive rates. But lets not kid ourselves here. Utility ra

Why is progress in renewables a bad thing for utilities? Just in the past 10 years or so, coal prices have increased by ~50% while natural gas prices have dropped at an even greater rate. Churn in the prices of underlying energy generation

Comments like this make me really wonder if companies like the boring company actually have the right idea, but maybe a slightly wrong implementation. What if the tunnel networks were based on pedestrian traffic rather than vehicle traffic?

That is a nice analysis, but tbh, I think it overlooks the big pricing problem that is really at the core of it all. Make the SR+ a 20K car and people would flock to it. As it is, it might struggle to sell more than 300K units per year. But

If it was, it isn't at all clear from the data. Model S and Model X slowed dramatically, and that part might be indicative of a real problem with those two models. Model 3, OTOH, appears to be growing steadily right now.

Products have changed, but also UI design tends to be driven (or at least influenced) by marketing. And marketing trends change regularly driving a need for markup and styling to be revisited. In theory, this is just marketing, but in pract

According to a utility in South Carolina (Santee Cooper): "Related to cost — in 2008, natural gas generation was as low as $55/MWh and coal was about $22/MWh in our most efficient units. In 2018, the comparable prices were $2
