M3 Ultra will be a monster. M1 Ultra is 16/4 chip with 40 or 64 GPU cores. Based on the M3 Max, the M3 Ultra will be a 24/8 CPU with (up to, depending on binning) 80 GPU cores. Each pCore is up to 30% faster, each GPU core up to 6

Unless you need x86 compatibility, the M-series machines will be much faster. Check out the old M1 reviews for comparisons to Intel machines. They've only gotten faster since then. But Xcode's issues are Xcode, not the processor.

I wanted to try it but it seems there's no free usage on the Apple TV, at least for my HD and 4K library?

The Cygwin issue isn't strings (well, that could be another issue) but that Rust doesn't support Cygwin in the first place, at least according to the comments in the linked thread.

Fundamentally, such a strike assumes Apple cares about the free reports they get from their developers. I'm not sure that's true. And even if it is, it's not like they don't have enough other reports or features to work

Max is the one with the 128GB limit. We'll see what the limit is for the M3 Ultra, possibly 256GB.

Workable, I suppose, though it still plays a split second of the ad while the skip happens. Perhaps a pause (or mute?), skip, then resume might be possible?

Presumably it means the root of the app is a SwiftUI App-conforming type rather than a UIApplication. Of course SwiftUI can bridge into UIApplication so it's entirely possible for apps to be using both (though you can't really bri

Only access control I wish Swift had is typeprivate so I could hide private things but make them available for subclasses (or perhaps protocol conformers). Unfortunately Apple has only added a package level so far, which seems fairly useles

Something not noted in the article is that any binary which links Foundation, even if otherwise written entirely in Obj-C, now uses Swift. This is due to the Foundation Swift rewrite effort ( https://github.com/apple/swi

Baen used to give away huge portions of their catalog in the CDs included with their hardbacks. Buying the latest in the series meant a good chance the rest of the series was on the CD. Even now they're the kings of available formats,

iCloud Private Relay is double blind, so even if they did, they can't match it to the egress address. User -> Apple -> (Cloudflare, Akamai, others) -> Public.

There are many other blockers, including fully free ones. I pay the trivial cost for 1Blocker because I want to support regular updates of blocking rules, and because it has one of the most extensive initial sets. They were also among the f

If you use Safari, the blockers from the App Store work fine (I use 1Blocker). If you use a third party browser, they don't get access to Safari's blockers (for no good reason, it's all WebKit after all) so you'll need t

I've found Mazda's connected car service to suck, generally. 1. No climate control, so remote start is largely useless. 2. Remote start ends if the car loses cell connectivity for even a moment. So starting the car in my driveway

Autorelease only works if you put the object in the autorelease pool. Some calling conventions also put it in the pool for you but if all you did was manage pools you'd leak memory.
