That only happens with major OS releases. Or the inverse, where the version of Xcode requires the next major version of macOS. We should see that in March with Xcode 14.3 or 14.4.

Using the USB-C connector doesn't guarantee high speed connectivity. Technically that connector can fall all the way back to USB 1 speeds. Hopefully we'll see higher speeds, but Apple never put their higher speed Lightning ports o

I don't know why this is downvoted, it's true. There is no automatic copy on write optimization in Swift. It's a manual optimization that expensive types like Array implement manually.

You either need main.swift, in which case you get global execution, or another file with a type marked `@main`, which encapsulates the main execution (and enables async support).

Jobs didn't want apps at all but he was eventually convinced they were needed, late in the iPhone development cycle. So rather than announce the native tools early (they wouldn't ship for another year) they tried to sell web apps

GHA has macOS runners but they're persistently 9 - 12 months behind macOS versions, making it difficult to keep using them when Apple starts requiring the latest OS version for Xcode. Luckily self-hosting is pretty easy, if you have th

You can't even get over 2TB unless you subscribe to Apple One and even then you only get another 2TB. Pretty useless as a large scale backup service if the maximum you can ever pay them for is 4TB.

Do you have a good tutorial or intro for ARM64 or Apple Silicon assembly? I'd like to learn but the books I have are all for MIPS, and the online resources are hit or miss.

I don't think it was a mistake; they intentionally shipped the 5.7 compiler toolchain with on the current OS standard library (5.6). They just don't have the automated testing to catch stuff like this.
