Can you give a little background on the technologies you used?

I'm a big fan of Salvatore's analyses. They are straightforward from the perspective of somebody who knows the ins-and-outs of their system(s). We need more of this.

Linode seems pretty equivalently priced, especially with their new SSDs. Do you know how their reliability is?

I host Minimal Reader on Digital Ocean and have to seriously reconsider them for production use at this point. I'm considering switching back to AWS, but want to explore my options. Do any of you have recommendations on an equivalently

I launched Minimal Reader [1] last year right before Google Reader shut down. It started small, grew organically, and now I've been able to wrangle together a couple thousand customers. [1] https://minimalreader.com

Automattic (the company behind Wordpress.com) open sourced[1] their legal documents with a Creative Commons license. It includes their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. You can use these to get your moving in the right direction, but be

I've saw restarts and networks issues frequently on DO months ago. They seem to have stabilized in the NYC datacenters where I host https://minimalreader.com/ but overall, the stability always seems to be on the edge o

I concur. I use Ansible for my deployments on Digital Ocean. It would be trivial to move over to Linode because of Ansible's flexibility (which is actually something I consider every time DO has network issues). Hopefully this competit

I run https://minimalreader.com/ on Digital Ocean. They do have moments of downtime every now and then, the most severe being 12 hours of severe network issues back in October 2013. Since then, I have rarely had issues with

I love hearing about this. I've been growing my reader Minimal Reader https://minimalreader.com/ for the past year and can say that thousands of paying customers helps reassure that there's still a market for RSS.

My first software product I launched on the side 5 years ago still makes quite a bit more than $1k/m (and that's in non-recurring revenue). Its best month was more than $15k while I was working full time. I was able to quit my cor

Press is a decent Android app with a lot of sync options. I use it with my reader via Fever API. The only complaint is that it has a few memory leaks which causes it to crash every now and then on memory constrained devices.
