I really enjoy your designs, Kyro. But, I would really like to see a side-by-side comparison of before and after. I think that will be really helpful in illustrating the design choices you make during the facelift.

After updating my dev tools through the SDK, I wondered why I couldn't run an x86 system image. The update doesn't select it for installation by default. Selected "Intel Atom x86 System Image" for the Android 2.3.3 system and everything wor

Exactly. Give me lean and lightweight MovableType with a sprinkling of Simple/Obtvse/Svbtle. Easy (or no?) install. Nice UI. Simple export to HTML.

I'd like to see one of these clones that more closely resembles the static site generators like Jekyll ( http://jekyllrb.com/ ) or Hyde ( http://ringce.com/hyde ). Basically, the CMS would just be the interface to create new and manage exis

The problem here is specifically with how SQLite does not implement ALTER TABLE fully. From the documentation: "SQLite supports a limited subset of ALTER TABLE. The ALTER TABLE command in SQLite allows the user to rename a table or to add a

It gives me pain every time I see an interesting, yet irrelevant article on HN, especially one that is 5 years old.

While Piumarta's original code is still relevant, I chose to use _why's fork that fixes some bugs and makes the parser reentrant. Take a look: https://github.com/whymirror/greg Also, take a look at the various forks of greg, including one

This article seems to be a bit "mainstream" for HN, IMHO.

Checked this out and have a few thoughts. I wasn't expecting a full browser interface (specifically, tabs, etc). A site-specific browser, to me, is not a browser replacement, but rather an alternative application for a specific site. The mo

Whoosh is fast enough for small amounts of data, or when the searches do not need to be performed in realtime. But, I agree, something like Lucene/Solr or Sphinx might be a bit better for indexing large amounts of content (i.e., the provide

I don't see this as different than from the last time the developer said "Hopefully an alpha version will be ready before too long..." back in 2009. I hope he proves this wrong, though.

I would agree that the pain of displaying a version number to the user doesn't necessarily exist. Though, it is a good practice to have releases for your webapps, even if you have multiple releases per day. In this instance a revision num

Been looking for a tabbed putty client for years. Though, I'm a bit saddened by the UI. While I do think it looks "good", I feel that the Chrome tab UI seems to be incredibly overused nowadays.
