It depends on how you define meat. I'm a vegetarian, and it doesn't seem to be hard to get enough zinc without eating beef, chicken, etc. http://bembu.com/foods-high-in-zinc Eat some shrimp, spinach, peanuts, etc

I love Go, I love Rich Hickey and I love clojure. I don't understand the confusion.

I've always found the list comprehension harder to read for non trivial examples. It may just be a matter of which a person learned first.

When you are unsure, make it a function. I have frequently regretted making things fields, and I have never regretted making it a function.

Jruby 1.7 simply doesn't work in GAE, and maybe it's not worth making it work there, which I would understand. I opened an issue a while ago ( https://github.com/jruby/jruby/issues/2304 ) and I spent

Have you tried the pure-Java fallback on App Engine? I tried it for JRuby 1.7 and it didn't work. I haven't tried yet with 9000, have you?

The problem with all statements regarding programming languages is that they rarely have empirical evidence to back them up. Do you have any data showing that generics will lead to a cleaner language? I have seen a study or two that tried t

It is not a pure superset. With the current app engine, Google takes care of security patches for the language. With container engine, the customer is now responsible for security patches for their language.

you have a strange definition of immutable. Language is changing rather constantly. Take an 80 year old and have them listen to a conversation between 16 year olds. I bet there are a bunch of words they don't know the meaning of.

webdev requires deep knowledge, it just may be a kind of knowledge you aren't interested in. Placing more value in your own pet interests is more than a little condescending.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe with sum types you can chain together multiple calls then pattern match once at the end. In Go you have to check at each call.
