If I publish a book, and the local Barnes and Noble doesn’t carry it, that’s not censorship or suppression, right? I see FB as the same thing, choosing not to distribute something is not censorship or suppression unless we dilute the meanin

I never told it to show me short form video of random things not related to my family and friends. I also never reacted to it. The idea that FB is about staying in touch with family, and that it's the best way to do that, is absurd whe

Does it? I just opened Facebook, scrolled for a while, and didn’t see any family photos. I saw a bunch of lizard brain short videos of people fighting in road rage incidents, attractive women dancing and such, airsoft gun games (no idea why

You don’t need a social network for that, just a messaging app. The idea that families would not be able to keep in touch without social media is absurd and obviously wrong.

Do you have a fully functioning code example? I didn't realize it was just a snippet when I looked at it earlier.

Thanks for sharing! I’ll try this after work on some URLs from the search engine I’m working on as my hobby project.

That’s how you make a worse search engine than Google. If you are serious about competing in that space I think you need to do something fundamentally different than Google. Treating pages as a bag of words leads to a shitty search engine.

Yeah, it depends on what you want to prioritize and value in your search engine. I’m coming at it from the angle that if you want to make a good, new, and different kind of search engine you need to do something fundamentally different than

The hard part is understanding which parts are the content versus navigation or promotions of other content. I’ve written a couple search engines. Have you tried making one with beautiful soup?

The biggest hurdle is that parsing web pages is really hard, and sites do a bad job at providing good meta data.

I don’t even know what this means. Are you saying that we should expect propaganda to not work despite it working since the beginning of recorded history? If so, that is really dumb.

It does make sense because they will claim that the Ukrainians did it, which they’ve already started to lay the groundwork for. Also, nuclear plants can be a target for plenty of states or groups that don’t have nuclear weapons like terrori

I’m sure that far more cash transactions by volume are not money laundering compared to tornado cash. Tornado cash’s only real purpose is money laundering.

You are using two very different methodologies, which is unsound.

The vast majority of cash is used for legitimate purposes, the same is not true of tornado cash. They are not remotely in the same ball park.

I hear you, I think software is different because it has very few physical constraints. My appetite for food is not infinite, I can only eat so much. Same, but less so, for cars, clothes, etc. in some abstract sense, maybe, there are people

That is the market rate. I’m at a large non FAANG company, non tech company, and that’s what we pay when you factor in bonus and RSUs.

The thing people miss, demand for software is infinite, so demand for software developers will increase to match any increase in supply.

I find most things by jumping into pry at a break point and inspecting it. Works really well, but isn’t something that’s common in other languages so people don’t think to do it.
