WiFi isn't as useful as people think but not having any text charges because you're using the regular data plan is great.

I'm impressed. I installed it to disk on a VM and with Firefox 3.5.2 installed it was only using 75MB.

It says they placed a network wide ban on them, I wonder how tight their security is. Can it be bypassed with a proxy or VPN? It seems the real issue is "...links to malicious sites in the hope a marine on R&R ... might click on them"

Not sure if anyone is reading this but I said I'd report back so I am: Google Voice installs easily It integrates with voice dialing It does send SMS but you need to use the Google Voice App instead of the standard Messaging App to send SMS

It makes the calls using the cellular voice network but it uses the data connection for text messages. At least it did in before I'll check it out first thing tomorrow and report back.

I've got the G1 and I don't like the 'bend'. HTC should have made the scroll ball flush with the case if that's the reason behind it.

The reason I use HDMI is that it's a single cable that handles video and audio. I can plug in my notebook with a fairly thin cable and use my LCD TV as a second display. I've never had any issues with the onscreen menus but I don't think
