Rails is a framework. The equivalent on AppEngine would be django (Python) or J2EE (Java). So, no. Don't make you framework decision based on what your platform provider has to offer. Do it the other way. Make a decision on your framework,

I also wondered about the future of Cappuccino. The current version is LGPL licensed, but they may rerelease future versions under a different license.

I don't know how much data this app needed to be input before operation. But I understand Apple's concern. Requiring a registration with lots of data before an app can be evaluated is annoying. Also the app can be easily be changed to get a

You didn't mention what kind of web development you are doing. If you are into node.js, ruby or modern nosql databases, you should definitely install cygwin and mingw. These environments let you compile most posix stuff, like you could do o

Great to hear something about Org-mode. Development seems to have stalled for a while. I am desperately waiting for an iPad-compatible version of the companion mobile app. Org-mode is such a great tool, that I am not willing to switch to an

Real life shows, ref-counting, when done manually, is more error-prone then GC. Programmers make errors. As single missing release keeps your object locked in memory. One missing add-ref crashes your program. Microsoft soon learned this les
