This is usually true but I’ve recently been introduced to a legacy codebase which is so bad it can hardly be modified. Mixed tabs and spaces, sometimes one space indentation or no indentation at all, 1000+ line Java methods, meaningless var

Yacob is automatically treated as morally superior because he’s African. That’s the whole point. It’s not actually about who said what first. That’s just being used as a pretense for pushing his superiority (and the moral superiority of p

Some (like Monero) are also still able to be efficiently mined by CPUs. Mining Monero isn’t very profitable right now though. It’s probably half as good as ETH.

Perhaps electricity costs there are higher than in the U.S. so mining is less profitable? Although I don’t have these issues in Ohio, either. You can find any NVidia card you want easily, and only AMD Vega is in short supply at the moment.

I had no issues at all getting a 1080 when those were new. I don’t think the next generation will really be that bad either. Even with what happened with the Vega release, it was easier to find a Vega GPU than it was to find a Nintendo Swit

I thought it would be clear I was being sarcastic but apparently not. This was really the point I was trying to make — that these speech laws really aren’t doing anything to address the problem. Additionally, the idea that the incredibly hi

That was my point actually, I was being sarcastic. We need better treatment for these people, not draconian speech laws.

And if you’re lucky you might have actual realizations instead of just adopting the ones society tells you to. Do kids think their parents are stupid because of genuine observation, or is it because we tell kids to think their parents are s

Columbus definitely seems like an underdog here but it could be one of the best options on this list. Great talent pool coming out of Ohio State, young people are already moving here, the local economy is doing great, and real estate is sti

It’s definitely not about frameworks or build tools. It’s just about applying whatever you’re using well. It certainly doesn’t have to be perfect, but it should at least be clear that an effort was made.

While this is generally true, the situation with SPAs is a bit more complicated. Each popular approach early on had a lot of serious issues and pitfalls. IMO React was the first thing to really break through this and while it’s not perfect

Even as a publicly traded company I think that making money is a necessity but not really the primary focus for them now. They’ve gotten to a point where power is the most valuable thing, even when it comes to their ability to make money. T

As a relatively junior developer, my advice would be “learn the best practices, or don’t write code at all”... But we’ll see if I’m actually following my own advice 15 years from now. Hopefully I’m not on the wrong side of the Dunning-Krueg

This whole extra logic tier comparison doesn’t make much sense to me. The same logic exists on the server side anyways, you’re just moving it to the client. It’s not like making a site without substantial amounts of JS is really an alternat
