Yeah. Like you would think you could just look at reflectivity data to determine whether or not it's currently raining, but at most places you are far from a radar site and even the 0.5 degree tilt is scanning a mile above your head.

People seem to have different opinions on how good forecasts are. I think it likely depends on which model your forecast source of choice pulls from. I notice that the weather on my Apple Watch corresponds exactly to what GFS says. GFS i

Who is going to pay someone to look for problems months down the road? Ultimately if malware doesn't think it's a VM, then test taking software isn't going to either. Malware is trying to resist analysis by trained professio

You can run your VM such that VM detection can't detect it. It's an arms race. The mouse is always ahead.

I built my second printer from scratch, but I have no idea how you would build a 3D printer without a 3D printer. There end up being a lot of parts you have to prototype, and you can't do that unless you have a printer already. You al

I find this very annoying. I don't know if this is the right thing or not, but my workflow for starting new work is "git checkout master; git pull; git checkout -b new_work". This is all fun and games until you have a workt

I mean, transportation is pre-tax, so not really $2500. There's also no such thing as a free lunch. If your employer is buying you an office, then that comes right out of your take-home pay. Or, you're underpaid. Ultimately you

I don't know if there is any amenity at the office that would make me want to commute (and it is like 20 minutes for me to get to work). Like, I already have a private office. Nobody I work with wants to be interrupted with random co

I have 8 Noctua fans in my PC and I can tell you they are not silent at 100%. Are they annoying at full power? Not really. But they aren't silent. Thus, fan curves are applied so that when air movement is not required, they aren&#x

Interesting point. I am sure the steel beam that is stenciled with "1 ton" can hold more than that, but the plasticky thing that's the actual lifting mechanism looks pretty hardware-store grade.

This doesn't bother me. It's about making you whole after random events. It's better to imagine a meteor hitting your car. If it turns your $100k car into a crater, you have a $100k car afterwards. If it turns your $10k c
