Great definition of enterprise software: With "enterprise" software, you can often get away with a clunky program, because the people who are using it have all been trained on what to do. If doing X makes the application crash, that's okay

A related issue to syntax is consistent naming, especially in the core API of a language. Java for example has _relatively_ consistent naming for methods, whereas i find the core Ruby methods to be all over the place...

exercise is a great source of energy and i've found it also decreases appetite. I didn't feel the benefits until after a few weeks of a regular exercise schedule; during the initial ramp up the changes in energy and appetite were inverted.
