This is pointless nonsense. What's demonstrated is a special effects video of a reworked Android home screen with a bunch of whizzy mystery-gesture interactions - the exact same kind of interactions that takes the longest for iOS users catc

Up voted you elsewhere, but you're claiming that flagship 2012 software features could or should fit into a device sporting a single core ARM processor with 256MB of RAM and a GPU that is verging on obsolescence. We're an order of magnitude

I thoroughly agree with all you wrote, save for the mother problem: iOS is the first platform where I've ever seen my mother seem in control and empowered by her computing experience. After five years those interaction models and expectatio

Good eye! I think you're totally right. This might force a new Air body which makes it more of a project than it would otherwise be. If the Air wasn't selling it might be a priority, but these things appear to be blowing off the shelf.

No don't get me wrong, I would strangle for 200+ DPI across 27". And it does seem inevitable. I thin it's just asking too much of the supply right now, especially when there's an entire MacBook and MacBook Pro line to update, not forgetting

I don't see Retina as priority for the desktop line at the moment. Sales of standalone iMacs and Thunderbolt Displays are a rounding error on their income streams and ordering 27" panels would soak up a lot of HiDPI panel output that would

Ah, apologies, I was being a bit unclear. The only way to daisy chain any series of displays anywhere in the Apple universe is by plugging Thunderbolt Display into a Thunderbolt Display into a Thunderbolt port. Daisy chaining is not being

Unfortunately no. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5219#dispnum Thunderbolt only chains to Thunderbolt. But the port coming out of the Mac will gladly connect to one of anything.

No sir. For (presumably) dumb (presumably) Apple Reasons, a non-Thunderbolt display cannot be involved in that chain at all. I'm not sure why. This is not gospel, by the way - I don't know if this was a limitation of the prior MBAir or else

Negatory. The total volume of pixels the Mac can push is the limiter. As you add monitors, the Mac will eventually black out the laptop display and spend the pixels externally. Beyond that it'll simply refuse to light up the display it can'

Negatory. The Thunderbolt port is really just passing through a DisplayPort signal - any DisplayPort monitor will do. Displayport degrades nicely into HDMI, DVI, or VGA with an adapter, so sky's pretty much the limit. The new MacBook Pro do
