Yes to all of that. But the central question this story is going to answer is "What happens to people who embarrass the U.S. Government in the 21st century?" The answer to that question answers the fate of Wikileaks, which is ultimately jus

Your characterization of Julian Assange as a "two-bit twerp" is weird. You are aware he is an extraordinarily high profile figure on the world stage, yes?

Ach, you're right. The extensions loader alone blows up on boot. It'd be infeasible to remove the Apple JRE from the field. So much for my pet theory.

Apple's already removed their own JRE from default OS X installs, demand-loading it only with explicit user authorization. Furthermore they've sent out recent security updates partially disabling applet loading in web browsers and disabling

200+ DPI displays actually do make everything that came before trivial and irrelevant. So take that point and put it in your pocket and let's all move on.

I am in love with what I'm being shown. Super-rich compound multi-user documents. It could be fantastic wallboard software. Or you could just call it a wedding planner and it would be a minor sensation.

Horribly complicated? Oh, I'll bite. All hardware discussions aside (and you do make some good points), the central advance of the iPhone was in the design of the software. Everything is an app. Everything. The alarm clock is not a special

Also, at least for space satellites, high energy protons and other particles hitting the camera sensors cause streaks, glitches, and pinholes that have to be scrubbed out. Perhaps the same is true on Mars with only 4% of the atmosphere.

I'd be happy to see the native Google Youtube app allow me to copy a video URL. It is extraordinarily difficult to make such a simple thing happen on iOS right now.

That's my point, although I'm not sure my argument is illuminating much. Why do they request applause for selling what is essentially an unchanging utility? Data goes to and from the handset. Lower latency, cheaper, wider range, higher volu

Not to be sour, but an innovation in what? The first cellular network was a radio tower with a backhaul supporting handsets. LTE is a radio tower with a backhaul supporting handsets.

An evolving trend in OS X and iOS is to rework various applications into little faux leatherette items - Contacts and Calendars have both received this treatment. Reaction is almost universally negative, even among tech uninvolved customers
