Why is the counter demo so slow? If you are compiling to JS/React I would expect it to be close to native perf no?

Ideally the idea of an FDIC limit is just removed and banks are just further regulated to ensure that risk is kept at acceptable levels such that FDIC insurance fund is always capable of absorbing any failures in full.

They are talking about VCs that pulled their fund capital + advised portfolio companies to move all their deposits to Big 4 banks. i.e inciting a bank run.

Shockingly bad take. SVB investors were wiped out 100%, this includes most of the net worth of the leadership team. Moral hazard is definitely still in play. All we need to see after this is is Basel III and Fed regulation extended to cover

Worth mentioning that HSBC recently announced an absolutely banging quarter and are in a great position to take advantage of this situation. This is pretty much the old Berkshire playbook, buy distressed assets at giant discounts.

Likely plenty. Most of the smaller banks without sophisticated risk management likely haven't hedged against interest rate risk or adjusted their bond portfolios as interest rates rose. Unfortunately none of the regulatory frameworks e

Also I can generally pick up the previous generation used at a discount as the new stock is about to come in. This is especially good on big ticket items that people seem to crave having the newest version of. i.e phones, TVs, computers.

I'm aware but it's not really ergonomic. For instance Pulumi also generates random names for resources, again you can override these but again, not very ergonomic to work around etc. IMO tools like Tanka + Jsonnet, or Cue are just

Technology transfer isn't illegal, Cisco was happy with the commercial arrangement. More importantly Motorola before them which is who really kickstarted the Chinese electronics manufacturing sector. I wish it was more common actually.

No application is banned from operating in China if they are willing to follow the rules. Generally speaking companies like Google just don't like the rules so they don't operate there. The US has many laws that cause apps to be p

The laws are stated. If you publish an app the the App Store that violates US law you can be sure it's taken down pronto as well. TikTok isn't violating US laws, they just want it removed for "national security reasons".

China does not ban foreign apps, that is pure misinformation. I think lack of success of foreign apps in China comes down to a much simpler dynamic. Foreign apps are simply not launched concurrently in China and optimised for the Chinese ma

China doesn't ban apps, even US made ones. Instead they mandate that apps that operate in China must follow Chinese regulations, privacy laws and of course provide access to Chinese agencies as requested. Many American companies have d

It's not about the commands. `pulumi up` is what you are looking for and the k8s resources that accompany it. kubectl apply, especially with server side apply is effective just a mechanism to push the declarative definition of your k8s

Helm is a pile of garbage. k8s speaks JSON just fine as expected. Try Tanka + Jsonnet to restore some of your sanity, also allows you to keep using Helm during your transition to a better place.

Go exists in a weird space. It's not the top performer but is respectable (as long as you don't pressure the GC too much) however it's also not very expressive. This leads to it not being favoured as a high level language bec
