This is where Bazel + rules_js ecosystem shines. First of all it lazily fetches dependencies which means if you are only building 1 out of X projects you are only getting your projects dependencies from npm, then it's only providing ju

Ironically this means the best time to adopt Bazel is from the very start. Despite the fact Bazel doesn't add much at that point in time it's when the cost is lowest and it prevents impedance mismatch from being introduced. This r

Just install UTM and it will allow you to install from gallery. There is probably a way to download the disk image directly but the app will handle it for you to get started.

Bazel has a heavy focus on correctness (pretty much to the exclusion of everything else). Where does Moon fall on the correctness gradient? Does it enforce hermecity or deterministic builds or give me tools to accomplish it? In the same vei

Exactly. Linux isn't a standard, it's an implementation and that comes with many benefits. Some downsides also like you noted but generally speaking more good than bad. I prefer a world where we can have WebSQL over a world where

Yeah you need an aarch64 Linux build. Suggest just using UTM if you don't need anything fancy. Pretty sure they have an ARM64 Ubuntu image in their gallery thing. I'm running Archlinux ARM in a VM as my primary development environ

That wouldn't happen under community leadership ala Linux. Linux pretty much never breaks userspace. Instead what you are seeing is the exact problem of overriding commercial interests and no restraint on individual parties because the

A mono-browser-engine culture is no more harmful than a mono-kernel culture. It's worked great for Linux (despite the existence of POSIX) and work likely work great for browsers too. Unfortunately there is too much meat on the bone and

If you aren't multi-homed that doesn't matter at all though. For a home network I'm guessing you are pretty unlikely to do the multi-homing from the house, more likely you will either just have a single upstream or if you are

My point is that market expectations are fickle, over-hiring, layoffs etc are all symptoms of paying too much attention to the market in the short term rather than focusing on long term ROE.

I don't really get the motivation for this beyond personal greed on behalf of executives that are only seeking to prop up the share price in the short term. The market forces at work will force all technology companies down in valuatio
