Bazel isn't for everyone which is why I suggested using any similar tool, jib, Nix, etc. Just not Dockerfile (or if you are going to use Dockerfile only use ADD). Also just because you don't have experience with something doesn&#x

Yeah I really need to actually sit down and learn Nix, seems like it can solve this in a more general way for cases where the thing you want to run is packaged for Nix already.

The trick to Docker (well OCI) images is never under any circumstance use `docker build` or anything based on it. Dockerfile is your enemy. Use tools like Bazel + rules_oci or Gradle + jib and never spend time thinking about image builds ta

Eh, Kafka isn't easy to fuck up. If anything it's stupidly hard to fuck up assuming you aren't completely incompetent and didn't read up on how it works or the main caveats. I say that because there really isn't muc

Wankels can be made extremely compact so that might have something to do with it, i.e it has both very high power to weight and power to volume specs. I honestly don't know if that is the reason though, perhaps someone more knowledgeab

I didn't say it wouldn't make a ton of money, there is a huge number of MongoDB instances out there in the wild in Fortune 500 due to the MEAN stack days (just like RoR before it). I fully expect the company to keep blowing away e

Man this is really sad. :( Having interacted with Simon on both a community and commercial basis through 2ndQ he was always polite, professional and happy to spend time explaining things to mere mortals. RIP Simon. You will be missed.

I have done this migration twice and rethinkdb to PostgreSQL once. At this point I think document DBs are as good as dead for new projects. They will live for a really long time still but are in contraction and rent seeking mode now. Expect
