Cool, thanks for the explanation. Btw, mongoid has a new association dsl that I think makes way more sense. embedded_in, embeds_many, referenced_in, references_many. I bet the project would love to see you as a contributor.

Not sure I totally understand. But it looks like its just a rewrite of MongoMapper for Rails3? Seems like the structure is very similar. What didn't you like about MongoMapper and/or Mongoid? Starting from scratch is a big job.

Replica sets look awesome. Can't wait to get them set up in production. Replacing a master/slave setup with this means automatic failover. Looking forward to single server durability in the next one (1.8). Should enable me to convince more

Solution = chrome frame. Now all their wonderful internal apps will still work. And the rest of the web world can move on. Solution != selenium in the cloud. Sauce is obviously just kidding around here. Selenium doesn't test your site for y

Engine Yard just keeps snapping up all the talent. When's EYConf? They should just start doing their own, and start making some bucks off the conference circuit.

I'd also like clarification on this. I think I remember the AGPL pissing off the ExtJS community quite a bit. From the discussion though, all it meant is that the javascript code you write to extend the library has to also be AGPL'ed. But i

Sorry, that's horse shit. Pirating software to make money is the epitome of hypocrisy. If you need something for your startup, buy it. Pirating it outright is straight up bad for you and for your startup. If you are successful, someday you

Github notifications really needs an overhaul. It kicks ass for V1, but it would go way farther if there was project level notification settings. Some projects I only care about commits on X branch, some I don't care about issues on, and so

There's advantages and disadvantages to switching. However Verizon has been the saving factor. In my area, the 3g of Verizon is 2 to 3 times as fast as it was on my old ATT plan. Also, its very nice to be free of some of the stupid iphone l

I completely agree with you. I've been on many projects where outsourcing ended up being a terrible idea, but anyone with a brain would be able to see that the process was screwed up from the beginning (on our side). I imagine myself in the

You're right, 100 isn't too much, but it seems wasteful. We dont need 50 repos. Drew hit the nail on the head. Couldnt have said it better.

Businesses such as mine can easily afford 100/mo but that doesn't mean we'll waste money buying way more than we need (50 repos is 3x what we'll use). I like the user/permission management part a lot. Just not the entry plan and price point

Agreed, I'd love to use organizations but paying for 50 repos is just outright crazy. We have a 12 person dev team, and 10 repos. Can't justify 100mo just for that. Will need to stick with unfuddle for now. Chris/Tom: please provide a lower

After much experimentation over the years, I've found the best approach as follows (using git): - always ship master - always develop using topic branches (branches dedicated to a single feature) - deploy topic branches to dev/staging (with
