Btw, that apple link you pasted shows no such reason to use a DMG over a zip. If I missed it, please explain. Also funny how so many developers provide zipped dmgs.

Gee, what a great idea. I've explained a hundred times. It doesn't stick. An icon comes up, and people click on it. It's natural and there is no indication of what you've done wrong. Then later, they have no idea where the app went. DMGs se

Not a problem. Lets just pass 1 more stimulus plan (to make it a trifecta) and then implement national health care. Because we all know the best way to lower prices is increase demand. No doubt this problem is going to catch the country com

Thats a good point. There's tons of free youtube downloaders anyways (I especially like keepvid.com). But I sort of like how Evom is a dual way helper, plus it'll re-encode the video for iPod.

I hate DMGs. I know it seems to be the most common way of installing stuff, but, really, what's the point? I have to mount, drag, unmount. Zip's automatically get extracted by Safari, and you just drag it where you want it (or launch it fr

I love it. I can just drag my Youtube links from the browser address bar over to the Evom dock icon and it queues it up for download. It would be nice to be able to set a "default" capture type so it was automatic. Also, some kind of bookma

I'm really glad they posted this. I saw a lot of twitters at RailsConf about how great this keynote was. Now that I've seen it, I personally don't see that much to like about it, but at least I'm no longer left wondering

Seems highly plausible. The concerning part is how do we get out of it? I wouldnt be particularly excited about a world war at this point.

Cheese has very little protein. The primary protein source in milk is Whey, and that's filtered out when making cheese.

I agree. If you're taking over an old crappy Rails project of reasonable complexity, think about using Pat Maddox's excellent tips on working with legacy databases. http://www.patmaddox.com/blog/railsconf_2009_legacy_rails It's useful to

Saying Rubygems as a CPAN like system has failed is retarded. It's vastly easier to work with than CPAN, and has gems for everything imaginable. The barrier to package up a new gem is almost nil (nearly automatic if you have a github repo).

Merb solves this problem nicely. You can easily trace every request from Request to HTML easily, and understand the entire framework at any point by popping open the component. Extremely clean, and obvious code. Rails is a bad example of a

As a longtime slicehost customer, thank god for competition. Slice has been slightly overcharging for memory (my current bottleneck). I also don't use any of slicehost's (admittedly great) tools. I'll probably think about reevaluating my se
