18 million is still way high for that. Fact is, there's a huge open source community that would do 90% of that work for free in order to get their names on a high profile project like that. It only takes a few pages of reading the RFP to st

That actually sounds like a great solution for some companies. Wonder if Google Docs will add this anytime soon. It'll make the cloud app much less useful (mobile access issues, etc). However I think its worth it in certain cases, like if y

The big story here, and what's circulating on quite a few of the google news reports about this incident, is the apparent "insecurity" of the cloud. If these documents were on an internal network, it would have been much, much harder for th

I always figured the absolute best way to support old IE6 developed intranet apps would be a single site browser tool with embedded IE6. Like fluid for windows. The problem is Microsofts boneheaded decision to make IE systemwide. Upgrading

I switched to a credit union 8 years ago when Washington Mutual charged me 300 dollars in fees in a single month (10 accidental overdrafts in one week). Havent been charged a fee since.

Almost. You can edit CSS styles, but not add new ones. You can add attributes (style=) to elements. It's been extremely clunky for me, but I have hope it'll be smoothed out in the future.

I like Safari's dev tools, but its missing some really basic stuff that Firebug makes easy. In Firebug, you can double click on anything in the dom view and edit it. In the CSS view, you can easily add new attributes. The autocomplete for C

This will accelerate greatly if Microsoft doesnt get IE9 out the door with comparable javascript speeds. It took Firefox a while, but its finally performing as fast as Safari & Chrome. Lots of people use apps like gmail and google maps,

Developers tools checkbox is a joke. In fact, its so outrageously bad, they need to formally apologize. IE8 dev tools are garbage compared for Firebug. They are better than that web dev toolbar crap, but not even in the same league as fireb

Pure, raw evil? Get a grip. It's not E.V.I.L. It's mean, and nasty. But E.V.I.L. to me resembles means more on the lines of the rape, torture, murder variety. The reason the law shouldn't get involved in cases like this is the damage done t

You can solve this problem multiple ways. "Fixing" climate change, if its even possible, may not prevent these 315,000 deaths. These people (in poorer countries) would just die in some other fashion. It seems obvious (to me) that the soluti
