“felid” comes from “Felidae”, the family for cats. It’s synonymous, but a bit more formal.

The hyperbole really isn’t cute anymore after all of the fuckups. Like, some humility this time would be great. “We listened. We made some mistakes, but we want to fix them.” Don’t come out guns blazing like “this is the BEST laptop EVAR!”

Because it’s expensive, bulky, and unnecessary. Something like this already exists: the Optimus Maximus keyboard. And while it’s a cool concept, it’s not without its rough edges. [1] [1] https://www.artlebedev.com/optimus&#x

People hate to admit it, but having a child is the most carbon-intensive thing you can do. Unfortunately, it’s a tragedy of the commons. Enough people act in their own self-interest to the detriment of everyone. This is uncharted territory

Education and birth control go a long way. Millions of people still don’t have access to either of those things. Some people don’t even realize you don’t have to have kids if you don’t want to. Some people are forced into it over and over a

Indeed. It must be the other 99% that aren’t in the repos because I have to install a lot of things that aren’t available in repos (or that haven’t been updated in stable in a long time).

That’s still no excuse. Maybe Bill has to access some customer data to troubleshoot. Fine, log it. Maybe Susan has to look at sensitive logs to fix a bug. Fine, log it. These aren’t new or unsolvable problems.

Maybe because tech companies tend to be careless with data. It isn’t NP-complete to track and monitor access to prod data, or prevent access to it entirely. It’s just that people don’t want to do it.

So what about all of the careless, lazy people I’ve worked with over the years who didn’t have armed robbery convictions? Maybe a past crime isn’t a good predictor of future work ability.

One could, and indeed, many do. Exploitation and wage slavery are terrible no matter the industry.
