The volcano erupts every 600,000 years or so. It has been 600,000 years or so since the last eruption. I don't think there's any evidence that it will happen in our lifetime, but it is due to happen soon on the geological timesca

I worry about an increasing movement toward radicalization on all ends of the political spectrum. I think Trump represented a shift to the far -right. Now I worry liberals might shift to the far -left. The middle ground seems to be disapp

Even with the hostile environment in the US, I suspect China is far more hostile . I don't see China retaining top talent--these individuals might simply go to Europe, Canada, Japan or elsewhere.

My opinion: - Seattle has more diverse industry. I toured the bio-science companies down at the harbor and was really impressed. Seattle is more than just "tech". - SF is way too restrictive with allowing new housing to be built

I've only visited SF. From what I've seen, there are far better cities such as Seattle, San Diego, ect, ect. I live in Dallas and couldn't be happier. I've been able to start a family as a Postdoc! http://dall

Just wait. Universities will start offering on campus "job-training" where you work as interns. Students will receive "income" through their student loans, which they have to pay back, while the University sells the stud

I don't think many people (even graduate students and postdocs) realize how much money universities suck in with grants. For every RO1 a professor gets, the university gets to add a substantial (typically greater than 50%) indirect cos

This appears to be one of those cases where the government is going against its own people. I guess it is up to the people to make sure their voice is heard and to replace a government that does not serve them.
