At my company we call this role "UI Development." A UI developer is expected to be good at all aspects of development that are required to implement the user interface, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and server-side templating l

That's not correct. I use npm scripts with `&&` on Windows many times per day. Other features may not be portable, but that one definitely is.

I have done this before, but arranged my days off to be alternating Mondays and Fridays so that every two weeks I'd get a four day weekend. My bosses were very generous with my schedule. :-)

Indeed. Though it unfortunately was widely practiced at one time, the Catholic Church now specifically prohibits money changing hands in exchange for indulgences. Indulgences are still part of Catholic teaching, but can only be obtained via

Yes. You just include a "type definition file" for Angular in your project. There is a very large existing repository of type definitions for popular JS libraries in the DefinitelyTyped project. https://github.com/

We've been using TypeScript with Angular 1 projects for almost a year now and have really been enjoying it. Having it integrated directly into the framework is a great improvement for my team, at least.

So, that's sort of true, but sort of not. Dan (author of Redux) has said that he read the Elm Architecture document before creating Redux, and didn't fully understand it. But he believes that it did influence the design of Redux.

I've seen some discussion between the TypeScript and Babel teams on Twitter. Any plans/thoughts about optional static typing in Babel?

As I understand it, the correct term for that is "structural typing." Duck typing is similar, but applies exclusively to dynamic languages. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duck_typing#Structural_type_sy...

The amount of "preaching down" varies a lot by denomination. Pretty common in Southern Baptist churches. Pretty uncommon in Episcopal churches. Catholic churches pretty much depend on the temperament of the pastor.

For a long time, Bootstrap was the flagship Less project, but they've recently switched to Sass. Some of the increasing momentum in Sass is probably due to libsass, a C-based Sass compiler that can be used without depending on Ruby. (A

Sure. And lots of people that use Rails still use it to communicate with Java-based backend systems. That doesn't mean that Rails isn't Ruby's "killer app."

Personally, I'd say that the front-end tooling ecosystem constitutes the "killer app": - Minification: Uglify - Transpilation: Babel/TypeScript/CoffeeScript - JS Module Systems: Require/Browserify/Webpack&
