Sounds a bit constipated to me. To be serious it depends greatly on the definition of asshole. If it means that racist, sexist, other discriminatory behaviour and general mean or vindictive behaviour is not tolerated that is good. It does n

You get shown a key fingerprint at first connection. If you verify that with a secure source you can confirm the host you are communicating with. Actually bothering and having a secure way to verify the fingerprint are exercises left to the

enums and structs are value types (and Result is an enum) so I think that you could just return self for the error case (gaining cleanliness and a little efficiency). Objects (of classes) are reference types so if Result was a class there w

In general "citation needed" on its own is frowned on as it is lazy and negative adding little to the discussion. My guess is that this is the reason for downvotes. Some claims do have to be called out and this might have be one o

It often seems like most use on Hacker News gets this wrong (so it isn't surprising people pick up bad habits when learning English) and I regularly have to resist my inner pedant. If the screw is too loose it could fall off and you mi

Scala is the only language that I know of that marries the world of FP and OO and thus does not need to “throw the baby out with the bathwater”. Have you had chance to try Swift yet. It could do with Tail Call Optimisation but I do think

Which finger to use is essentially password (albeit less than 4 bits) which presumably you don't have to reveal. Ask the policeman which finger he wishes you to place on the scanner and don't register you thumbs.

I think that is wrong. Having the finger print makes longer (or even just enable at all) pass codes practical. The passcode is also a part of the key used to encrypt the on device data and is not stored on the device so by having a longer k
