Its pseudo sanctioned by the city. Its on 15th and Mission every weekend can’t miss it. It will probably end after someone gets stabbed sadly.

Im actually for doing something about income inequality but most of the homeless problem has nothing to do with it in SF. The main issue is the city lets a lot of psychotic people that need help do whatever they want with no consequences.

Personally I have been moved to only use a desktop computer with Linux on it and switched to a Go Flip 3 dumb phone. It's helped my sanity quite a bit. I'm convinced tech peaked in 90s and the desktop dream was the best one.

I'm including series D companies under the term startup. I agree with you about early stage companies. Jobs at non FANG that don't IPO are not that sustainable imo.

Now do people 25-35 that are buying in todays market. That might take you longer than 30 seconds though.

I was surprised to see that Amazon (Twitch) is in SLC as well. What sort of paycut would I be expecting. I think my current gig would probably make me go from $170-$150k if I went remote. I assume the top end wouldn't be what it is i

Thanks, I will check out Phoenix. Assuming you are a little older since you moved in 2006, do you feel like the top end of your career has been held back at all by not being in one of the major tech hubs? What does your role look like now.

Sort of my plan. Working on math and then through an Algorithms book and an Algorithms Course from GaTech OMCS in the summer. Planning on interviewing in the fall. I have accepted the game.. After that Id like to use my new math skills to d

Well the sad truth is grinding Leetcode is much more likely to get you a job at big company where you will make 2x as much and work 1/2 as much as startup. You are right. The only thing that matters is how well you do on the LC like in

It's like people think Java only supports concurrency via thread pool and isn't capable of event loop / async io models.

$25k a year covers about half the rent in a place where you will get paid six figures after school. I am not sure you know what financially independent means.

Seems about right. Wow this site is full of people with delusions of grandeur. It's hilarious how people wonder why others hate techies. News flash, not everyone is in software. If you are I still doubt you are actually independently w

Yea, I am sure the percentage of 20-somethings who are actually financially independent is less than .0001%. Everyone else inherited money or gave up all hope of finding a real job.

Sorry about that. They all have tools that make them work on Android. Kotlin is reasonable option imo. It doesn't effect app startup and runtime size is so much smaller compared to the others. Clojure Android adds 3 seconds to star

I bet my Clojure or Groovy version will be simpler. I agree Scala is super complex :). Maven does suck. Gradle wraps it and does not suck. Probably the best build tool I have ever seen.

I guarantee you could write a more power efficient app using the Android SDK versus Go in the NDK.

Very true. I am starting to not see the point of Go. It's about the same performance as the JVM languages and the JVM is just as easy to deploy. On the JVM you get to choose between Clojure, Scala, Ruby, Groovy, Kotlin, and more. JV

It already IS. You can compile Android NDK libraries with Go today. It isn't that useful because the NDK isn't hooked up with the Android framework which means you don't get lifecycle events. There was a whole Android fram
