I don't understand the claim in the first sentence, and I don't understand how the linked thread supports it.

What exactly do they get fined for? I recognize this sort of upselling is sleazy, but I'm curious about the wording of laws that make it a fineable offense.

In the remote, not the TV, unless I'm misreading.

At least on my CX Series the mic is in the remote control. I'm not sure it can be turned on without pressing the mic button.

I'd like to live in a world where a noob developer can advance their skills by familiarizing themselves with a company's codebase, and get paid a living wage to do so. The call center operator deserves the same.

As did I! Rephrasing the title as a question avoids this peculiarity.

softwareupdate can download updates without installing them. Does anyone know if they can be extracted?

So seller reviews are useful even if buyers can't read them at all.

Except you can't shut the thing off, which means I can't have the remote anywhere near me or I'll bump it and make the pointer pop up.

My PRs sometimes get queued up like that too. Right now I'm waiting to merge an OS upgrade behind a single python package upgrade. I try to anticipate it in sprint planning and do reviews while I'm waiting for reviews.

Fun fact about the zoom in old mspaint: It gave you the options for 1x, 2x, 6x, and 8x zoom. But if you clicked one of the pixels directly below 8x you get a hidden 10x zoom. I miss easter eggs.
