Groupon may be the one to bring them customers, and you're right, it's the merchant's responsibility to convert the incoming people to customers. However, Groupon should find a way to help with this. Because if they don't, merchants will co

Is it just me or are the alternatives on the web, i.e. Google Docs good enough? I mean, if you're going to write some long papers, you'll probably just use MS Office anyways, right? At least personally, I don't use anything now other than G

I don't know about that... consider Facebook's billion+ dollar offers. Zuckerberg has turned them down. He's stated many of times that's he not in it for the money. Once you reach a certain level of money, e.g. 10 million or so, much more w

Agreed. Clearly the author isn't that intelligent - as he/she doesn't understand what irony means.

I like Kevin Rose's "Hacking the Press" comment. Basically, he says that you target junior bloggers. That seems like a decent strategy too, as they'll be eager for stories more so than the experienced bloggers. http://www.readwriteweb.com/

Don't allow the fact that you're an introvert to be an excuse. e.g. "I'm an introvert, so it's OK for me to no talk to these people." With that being said, I believe it's OK. However, let's consider what being introverted really means. It j

Agreed. Competition validates a market. It's easy to get discourage by competition, but entrepreneurs need to let competition fuel them. Fuel them to work smarter, harder, and faster.

This is more or less a linkbait headline. Regardless, if those who are successful listened to those who told them they would fail, they wouldn't have been successful.

You know what? Everyone is giving Kevin Rose shit for this redesign, but kudos to him for having the balls to take the risk to not rest on his laurels and try to improve. We'd all be lucky to be in his shoes to have that opportunity to take

As far as Rackspace goes, contact Rob (@kr8tr) and see if you can work out a payment plan. He has a real passion for great customer service. Plus, he's a cool dude.

Consider yourself lucky that you can submit your own articles to HN. My blog got banned from HN, but I gave PG my word that I wouldn't submit my own articles and so he unbanned me. Submit on a Saturday.

We often hear too much about the successes of startups that we get caught up on the glamor of it all. It's stories like these that bring us back to reality. I'm truly sorry for your loss. I'm sure that you've thought of this, but is there a

That's what interested me as well. What could you possibly want to scrape HN for? I suppose it would kind of fun to see who the most active users are. Or, who has the most karma. Maybe incorporate additional game mechanics? The only site ou

I couldn't agree with you more. I'm glad that Netflix and RedBox have torn Blockbuster apart. I knew this day would happen, and I don't want to wish any employees any financial hardship, but the company itself deserves this.

This is also Gary Vaynernchuk's mantra on building a successful business. I truly subscribe to this ideal. This article furthers my belief that caring may indeed be the secret to leading a successful life.

Ya but I think you're missing an important point. Having an active Github can demonstrate a developer with passion instead of one who just sees it as a job.
