I was installing the Discord desktop app on an old MacBook earlier today and I got a prompt along the lines of "Discord would like to monitor every keystroke you enter in every application on this computer -- hit OK to continue."

You can go further south than Houston and find much nicer weather. Heredia, which is a suburb of San Jose, Costa Rica, is much closer to the equator than Houston, but it is in a much rainier part of the world and it is at an elevation of a

It's a nice story you've convinced yourself of, I guess. People will rationalize anything because they just assume the theory is true. Also a new body part isn't just shapes at the macro level, like wings and noses, but they

Ironically, once I cut all vegetable and, in fact, all plant-based calories, out of my diet, I experience dramatic health and fitness benefits. I expect in this case the conventional wisdom is also exactly backwards and in fact transparenc

1% of wing is actually worse than just not having a wing. And saying "well, it just randomly happened" is not a "mechanism" in any sense whatsoever.

What bothers me about evolutionary theory is that it is a theory without a mechanism (natural selection needs something to select, after all -- and where did that thing come from?). Also, the process can't even get off the ground unti

Doesn't it seem like this kind of fraud should result in prison sentences? I'm so sick of frauds in academia. I really wish the elites in our society still took the idea of Hell seriously. Also: "will resign effective Augus

I completely agree with this -- no programming language has ever had as much marketing behind it as Java. It was absolutely overwhelming for about 6-8 years from maybe 1997 - 2005. And what a disaster that has been -- a bunch of people now

Well, I'm getting down-voted even though I'm correct. This is one of the problems in our society generally -- people have decided that what they think is just must be correct because they assume that life is fair.

Yeah, I think I'm easily worth $85/hour, maybe even $115/hour. But I don't want to try to negotiate until I have another $10k of savings and I have a couple of leads elsewhere so that I have a bit more bargaining power.

It has been since the introduction of peer review that science has taken a nose-dive. Peer-review is just such a terrible idea. All it does is bring politics and back-stabbing into science.

I don't think it makes sense to publish the results of clinical trials and other scientific experiments until after they have been independently replicated.

The following is my review on Amazon.com of the M1 MacBook Air: This is a landmark model, a classic, a perfect machine. I've been using the 2020 M1 MacBook Air base model (8 GB Ram, 256 GB HD) for almost 3 years now as a daily driver.
