I was thinking the rotor wash from the much-larger-than-toy-drone helicopters would handle the drones just fine.

I work in pharmaceutical R&D and I am definitely for government oversight. Does the FDA screw up sometimes? Yes. Is it slow? Yes. Should it be scaled back? Not anytime soon.

I would wager that the answer is to provide some other value to the contractors, but I have no idea what that could be.

Yesterday, I received some HM-10 BLE boards I ordered a bit ago. I hope the firmware will be updated, but I'm not holding my breath.

Well the only explanation provided in the FPH round is that they were being shut down for "behavior not ideas". That's more of a "trust us, we did this for the right reasons" to me.

This is very similar to one of the reports swirling before. If true, it is pretty awful for Alexis to keep letting Ellen Pao take the hit for it. There are other reasons that people dislike Mrs. Pao, but she doesn't need this final s

It seems to me that HN is more like a single subreddit than Reddit as a whole. The admin action on HN feels more like mod action on Reddit, because there is no larger umbrella above HN.

Sure, but the premise of Reddit is that mods can moderate as they see fit. Admins hadn't really been involved in shaping the content as much as keeping things running and legal.

Ok, but that doesn't answer all of the communication points. They had an email set up (despite being a communication platform, but if that's how they needed it, ok) and then they didn't tell the mods what that meant. Are they

That's my point, though. It's very hard to compete year after year in the flagship space. One company that is doing arguably the second best job of making flagship Android phones is HTC, and even they can't make money at it.

Well, that's the point of a contingency plan. Where I work, we have an emergency evacuation plan. They don't only start coming up with that plan when the building needs to be evacuated. They have it in place in case they need it.

The problem with shutting down the hateful subreddits is that they didn't communicate clearly. In that, they left a lot of room for rumors and speculation about why that sub was shut down for "harassment" when others that see

Two things they should have done: 1) had a transition plan in place for key employees, especially the most prominent public-facing employees 2) communicate after the fact; basically get all hands on deck to find and handle each of the AMAs

Often with devices of small market share, the people who purchase them are the people most likely to be happy with their purchase. That said, I think the WinPhone platform is very good, but suffers by not commanding the influence over app-m

If you think Big Pharma isn't struggling, you haven't payed close enough attention. There is a bit of a crisis in innovation that is commonly blamed on the low-hanging fruit being gone. To cope, almost all of the big US companies

I think you're correct. I can vividly remember a local news story from at least 15 years ago that talked about self-driving cars being just around the corner. All it would take is putting sensors in every roadway and having dedicated l

Well I'd doubt it will ever be billboards. They're so clunky and impersonal. In my opinion, they'll get pushed to your most distracting or annoying device (watch, glasses, surgically implanted HUD, etc).

I think this is why bookstores even still exist. I know they've reduced greatly in number, but every time I'm in one, I see people sitting with friends, drinking coffee, browsing books.
