I'm sympathetic to that concern, but I've heard reporters say they don't really fall out without the cord tugging at them.

I disagree. I work in a lab (biology), and I listen to podcasts, books, and music for a large part of most days. I currently use wired headphones, but the cord tugs at them all day. In addition, wires get caught. Just today, I was stooping

I'd guess very very low, but I'm not sure. I think they are barging ahead with a wireless future, evidenced by the lack of headphone port on iPhone7 and iPhone7+. If they drop the AirPods that were supposed to make the iPhone 7 su

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your frustration, but we can already produce many fully functional proteins (often in non-human cells) from their genes. It would be a magnificent feat to be able to know and produce an entire organism (famil

I think it could be either. Destruction vs information gathering would seem to be the line to me.

I'd wager that they might say that once you see the damaging thing, the damage is already done. Therefore, hiding after the fact is not the same for emotionally scarring stuff and silly stuff that is just spammy.

I think you overestimate the ability of consumers to discriminate between phones. Samsung intentionally named their phones "Samsung Galaxy S7" and "Samsung Note 7". Lots of people don't know that only one of the two

But that will mean that they can't be too upset when industries that require whatever compliance they won't allow into software moves to another ecosystem. It seems arbitrary to me to ask devs to remove functionality (except for i

Last night, the candidates for Vice President had a minutes-long discussion about community policing and implicit bias. To say that nothing individual incidents had no effect is to miss the forest for the trees.

Perhaps next year's iPhone. I've been thinking about how they can go to wireless charging without looking cheap. I think carbon fiber could be a decent replacement for the metal.

If I'm not mistaken, it's a completely different product with the same name. It was lync for a long time, and they just basically changed the name but kept all the innards intact. I'm fairly sure it's on prem.

Essentially a marketplace accepts funds and disperses some of those funds to another party. One example is Uber: they take payment from the rider and give some of that to the driver.

I think you might have forgotten the most sanitizing procedure. Blowing on it. Works for NES cartridges and cat hair on a cookie.

I don't know much about it, but I was browsing Apple accessories the other day, and in the accessibility section, there is this amazing device[1]. As I understand it, somehow it takes the text on screen and raises tiny dots to make bra

I'd say the database building is the only important part. The single social action is very unlikely to make an impact, but if they can continue to build a contingent of very interested participants, they can continue to push for thei

Yes; our system makes it very difficult to put horses back in the barn. I heard one physician say that Tylenol would not make it through today, or at the very least it would be prescription, because of the slim toxicity margin.

Interestingly, that prompt has made me more likely to take pictures of the outside of a location to share. I think that suggests it is likely that it is working for their purpose, which is to add tons of photos of obscure locations.

That's true, but it's important to figure out how to increase competition without destroying expensive innovation and risk. It's arguably the most important question in any industry when regulation is discussed.

Naive question: do faster cores perform slower tasks with more efficiency? In other words, if a game uses 80% of the old processor, but only 50% of the new one, is there an impact on the battery life just by being a faster CPU?
