Do you mean added corn syrup? Cornstarch is useful in the kitchen, but isn't super common in processed food (I assume they have better thickeners!).

There are certainly people who can afford it, but at that level there is literally no reason to. With that kind of cash people come to you, there's no reason to try and rush across the globe in a cramped jet to make a meeting. The uber

Opposing evidence: carriers continually find new ways to show a lower price and then make it back up in fees (like some US carriers charging for carry on luggage). This is specifically because people sort by price.

Yes, AdWords and related advertising products are quite sophisticated in terms of targeting. Walmart (and Amazon!) already use this.

I have a problem buying a product marketed as new and it turns out to be recycled and inferior to new (lower expected life). I have no problem buying something knowing it's recycled and has tradeoffs, since I can buy it in the times th

No, it will decrease the amount of money they have to pay out in dividends though... Theoretically the yield would decrease since the share price should increase as shares are bought back. That said, they did also announce a dividend increa

They have the cash and people generally invest in AAPL for reasons other than having a stake in a bond fund, so it makes some sense. Buybacks vs special dividend are debatable, but impossible to say what is better until you see the future s

Some scale for the new $100b buyback program... Larger than the market cap of all but 51 of the S&P 500 (with one of those being Apple!). That's nuts!

Amazon seems to have displaced other large low-paying companies than it has mom and pops (who were already gutted by Wal-Mart and the like). In fact Amazon props up tons of really tiny businesses that sell through its platform.

To put this in some scale, back in 2013 Randall Munroe estimated[[1] that Google had 10 exabytes on disk. That has to be significantly greater these days. [1] https://what-if.xkcd.com/63/

I’d like to see the city take away some street parking spaces and convert them to bike parking spaces. You can fit a lot of bikes in a parking space meant for a car.

This is much less interesting than the rust belt decline or any other number of dying communities. Kansas used to need a lot more people to support farming and thus had enough people around for small towns to have a little life to them. Now
