There are many, many biblical texts from various centuries that agree with each other. The New Testament has twice as many ancient copies as any contemporary works. The Dead Sea scrolls are a good example of older copies being found… and th

Yeah, growing up there in the 80s, 90s, and early 00s we had all kinds of rumors about the Balistrieris and where the bodies were dumped. We didn’t know anything of course, but there were definitely stories about speakeasies that some of th

This seems like a useful service for cities to provide: street maps and traffic rules for each segment in a standard format.

I don’t use windows often, but I was using it to check some hardware the other day and had to dig through nests of settings to get back to back to what was more or less the display settings screen from the Windows 9x/NT era, albeit wit

When the markup’s first design goal is to be parsable in linear time (and then proceeds to have a bunch of rules to support that goal instead of flexibility for humans) I don’t think there is much chance of catching on as a general markup l

A few months ago a former Navy guy mentioned to me that you can tell if your pilot is Navy or Air Force by the landing. Air Force pilots will come in nice and smooth, but Navy pilots, having been trained to land on carriers, will hit hard.

The difference between the Apple and Google lawsuits (from what I can tell), is that Apple didn’t exempt FANG and held them to the same terms as everyone else while Google made private deals with special terms for individual businesses (Spo

Yeah, as much as I defend Apple against the “they have a monopoly on the iPhone” crowd, this seems worse than the original restrictions. People have been buying stuff online for decades. There’s no new security issue at play here. Taking a
