Great stuff. Whilst getting in to Node from Rails (& Meteor) I've found the lack of backend, structured MVC frustrating. Apparently it's not 'Nodey' to make a big framework like Rails, but I'd rather figure that

I basically owe a large proportion of how I earn money today to Michael Hartl - spending $100 on his screencast a few years ago was the best investment I could have made. RailsTutorial is holistic, practical, and very well paced for total b

OP here - I think I was stretching it a littttle bit far to claim we're all good at sysadmin :) In reality—at least on my team—we're really good at UX -> visual design -> front-end MV* -> Rails

That's a really great suggestion. We only work on our own products, but if I go back to client services it's definitely something I'd like to explore :)

I've worried about that every day for the past few years. But then I consider the alternatives — either designing flats in Photoshop/Sketch, or coding someone else's work? I might be spreading myself thin but I'm enjoying it and deliverin

Yup - that was actually an old job, but at @MakeshiftHQ we have a streamlined real-world version for each project we work on. We're a small team (4 designy-devs + 3 others at the moment) and we're almost always in the same room so it's quit

I really loved Mark Otto's sentiment here — design and development aren't separate jobs like, say, deep-sea oil drilling and copyright lawyering are. We're all working on the same spectrum with an increasing amount of overlap. http://markd
