Only skimmed through this, but it seems to miss one important point: In Germany (1st spot for self-sufficient teenagers in this study) it is perfectly possible to pay for the normal phone/text/data coverage as a teenager by using

Never been to Africa, but this sentence tripped me up too. From what I hear/read some parts of Africa are way ahead in mobile connectivity compared to the US. As in: You can actually put SIM cards into phone (hello Sprint/Verizon)

What some of the other comments here seem to miss is that he isn't suggesting to replace air travel with other modes of transport. He suggests cutting back on unnecessary long distance travel. And if you have ever seen scientists'

Weird way of reporting the stats (as others in this thread seem to imply) or not, just walking around in Germany is enough to realize that Windows Phone is comparatively popular there. It's very present both in real users' hands a

I've been involved in (but did not run) another smartphone-to-postcard app, popular mostly in the German market ( http://www.kartensender.de/web/us/ ) but also available in the US. The main difficulties we face

Minor nitpick: Visa status != Immigration status For example: As a student you can have an expired F1 visa in your passport, but as long as your I-20 document is kept valid and you are attending school you are fine. The visa is only of conc

If you really need this, you could download the raster data (find the URLs via the National Map Viewer [1] for example) and add whatever type of road/trail/path you want on top using OpenStreetMap data. [1] http://viewe

I remember working on a similar, though slightly less destructive, app. I had a first or second generation iPod touch and it's back was curved so that you could spin it on a flat surface. I collected lots of accelerometer data and wrot

To add some context, this page is run by Chris Anderson, formerly editor at Wired, and now CEO of 3D Robotics. His book "Makers" [1] includes a few stories about the DIY Drones community. [1] http://www.amazon.com/

I would use this, if it weren't restricted to people who make smartphone apps [1]. That seems to be an extremely narrow focus, even in Silicon Valley. [1] This might not actually be the case but their info pages only talk about apps.

You know what's silly? Calling one version of English "real English" is silly. I think what you were trying to say is "British English". And I agree, why would you want to avoid using it?

No, I don't think this is a server problem, it's a UI problem: If there is no mistake, there is no visible feedback. Which makes it hard to tell the difference between being an awesome writer and seeing a broken website.
