I partly blame some of the popular early Node.js and npm community members for our current situation. Since the early days, they'd been advocating for developers to publish tiny packages and npm had been actively endorsing and promotin

Not so. The reality is that his family banker will invest the money in an index fund like S&P500 for him and then he will see it compound a predictable 10% or so every year, becoming increasingly wealthy without ever having to lift a fi

Maybe you should break up that large system into more manageable chunks (e.g. microservices, engines, ...) and integration test those individually.

I've had several experiences where static typing forced my hand into making a software design decision which I later regretted. Many real-world entities don't have a fixed set of characteristics/properties; instead, they have

Why next week? Why not use the integration tests as part of your debug cycle now? The kinds of integration tests that I write only take a few milliseconds to run so if they fail I can just make a code change (or add a new breakpoint or log)

For OOP, I aim for: - Separation of concerns between classes/modules. The responsibilities of a class should be easy to explain to a non-developer. E.g. Ideally , every class/module abstraction should be an entity discovered in th

I don't understand how a country can maintain a coherent system of law when there are so many homeless people and almost 1% of the entire population is in prison.
