You are describing restkit. Check it out. Goes past the broken standard lib stuff and straight to socket. Very pythonic.

+1 for restkit. It has a Pythonic interface, shortcuts and completely replaces urllib, urllib2 and httplib all of which I've had some beef with before. Love restkit!

I haven't commented on Hacker News for a while now. But let me rake in the downvotes and say that this kind of answer is the reason I can't be bothered anymore. Let's face it, this is a geeky forum. And geeks just can't refrain from giving

Tornado is batteries included. Flask uses Werkzeug and Jinja2 and encourages packaging extensions for localization, form processing, ORM's etc.. Flask, Werkzeug and Jinja2 are all Pocoo projects that have a good community around them and ex

I've helped my grandmother manage her business listing on there. It has brought many happy costumers and for at least 4 months a year we have a full booking of all spaces. However, the product is poorly done. It is hard to navigate and ther

I maintain a CLI tool that does something similar but for WSGI apps, and with a slightly different stack (uWSGI and daemontools). It uses libcloud to create instances so rackspace and linode are also supported among others. https://github.

Good point. Reversing type 2 diabetes comes when insulin sensitivity is gained back. For this to happen I believe a low carb diet should be enough, not a caloric restriction, but merely the elimination of foods that spike blood sugar. Would

Anyone know why they didn't go with Jinja2 for templates? When code is this clean I'm sympathetic towards the "batteries-included" approach, so I'm not criticizing the choice, just wondering if there was a back story, if it got evaluated at

I've run an application that used Facebook for this purpose (over 95% of my audience were Facebook users). Just login with Facebook and you gain instant access.

As long as you don't use Illustrator and hand off the design with half-pixels all over the document : )

Have you tried Fireworks? The vector/pixel and features geared towards UI design are great for web and digital. I would have thought the best chance at cracking the Adobe market share would be to create a tool to replace Fireworks. Firework

I was hoping for a Backbone.js mention. A tool like that will get you a long way in structuring your frontend code.

Very pretty. Threaded conversations. Anyone know if there are plans to support domain names?

There's an emphasis on improving scores and people get carried away for sure. But in the two boxes I've trained at there's a culture for good form and working on technique. "Honesty in motion, honesty in counting". I believe it's a CrossFit

Please have a way to follow people like on twitter. People want to know where their idols (the kind of people you follow on Twitter) are going to be. Expose your thoughts on twitter; expose your social geo info on socl.in.

Please make it obvious if this is available for international customers or US only. I dug around but not any closer to knowing if this service is available at all to me.

Are people really blaming Amazon now? I sympathize with the business decision, having politicians breathing down your neck potentially threatening the amazingly liberally drafted terrorist laws.

How exactly do you use this thing? Do you have to have the earphones cord running from your wrist to your head to actually use any of the nano's intended functionality? That, to me at least, looks like you're being brain monitored or someth

The espresso cup illustration is delicious! Looking forward to giving this a try. Mostly Python web development, so don't know how helpful some of these features are.

+1 for Flask. It very much gets out of your way. Interestingly it still feels like you have it both ways (batteries included but loosely coupled) as the series of extensions are high quality thin wrappers for good libraries - namely Babel,

I have a 7 month old son. I'm 24 years old. Me and the girl started going out about 4 months into her pregnancy. I wanted to give it a shot and it didn't work out in the end (just split up). My advice is to not fool yourself. It's going to
