What exactly does VMware do? Is it like VirtualBox but better ? Closed source? Hardware solutions? (Congratz to antirez!) EDIT: Looks like they do a VirtualBox type normal host + guest servers as well as a bare metal host setup. They have m

Think of it as a framework to build things yourself. It's not strictly a replacement for MacPorts.

I'd do without eggs and provide common Python libraries that need compiling on the server (lxml, Crypto etc.). You'd then simply accept Python code over the live for deployments. You'd also want to handle rollback, schema migration, key-val

No. There are a number of some pretty serious restrictions. I would _love_ something like Heroku for WSGI applications. Ian Bicking is working on something similar, not as high level with his Silver Lining project. http://bitbucket.org/ian

Good call on the apps. I think we can agree the idea of reusable apps hasn't really worked out. Still, I don't see how this tips anything in favor of Pylons. As for the debugger, I've been using pdb extensively. Errors thrown by templates a

I've taken numerous conscious and subconscious decisions to eliminate ads from my life. I don't watch broadcast television and I don't listen to broadcast radio. I don't regularly visit sites that whore out their pixel space (and even the c

Exactly what I'm thinking. If Valve games get ported to Mac OS X I'll actually buy them and stop considering XBox, PS3, PC gaming machine etc. purchases.

I'm a pretty happy Nexus One user. Well I was until I picked up my iPod touch again and played with it. I now have even more respect for Apple. It's the level of polish and responsiveness that blows everything else out of the water.

Don't buy anything that says anything on it. Perhaps a small Lacoste badge logo or something but no messages. Don't wear pink and yellow. When in doubt, copy everything from Tom Ford's A Single Man movie. And it's more important to look fit

Aaaah. I didn't know you'd get the money back for showing up in court. Why not just fine people who don't show up then? I'm not suggesting you put all suspects in jail.

That is indeed a good read. Maybe MacPorts needs a better website where they explain this stuff. You gotta give it to Homebrew - the one page README is better then the "MacPorts Official Homepage" front page. (In fact, GitHub's one-page-REA
